The fine rain drizzles, the streets are empty and silent, with only a few scattered umbrellas moving slowly. The news of Ethereum's plummet flashes on my phone screen, and my account balance is down to three digits. The desolation outside intertwines with my own downfall.
I am filled with unwillingness; how did I end up in such a situation? From a small-town exam-taker, I was admitted to Wuhan University, then pursued my master's at the University of Hong Kong, giving my all at every step. Yet now, I find myself with nothing left.
Last year, I quit my job and dove into the cryptocurrency field with 200,000 yuan I had saved over a year and a half. At first, everything seemed great. I monitored the market daily, researched projects, and analyzed trends, feeling freer than at work, after all, I was fighting for myself. During that time, I made some money and made a group of friends, exploring and sharing opportunities together.
From the beginning of the year to the end, I was in good shape, earning over a million yuan cumulatively, but I never withdrew any funds. By December, I struggled to keep up with the fierce market competition and judged that altcoins were about to explode, so I decided to buy the dip on BOME. I fantasized about replicating last year's PEPE miracle, buying from 0.008 down to 0.003, but the crash this morning directly led to my liquidation. In fact, the leverage I used wasn't high, less than 3 times.
I bet everything, yet still lost it all.
The most ironic part is that after returning home, I urged my parents to buy the dip, having them start buying $bome from 0.004 and averaging down to 0.003, which has now nearly halved. It's one thing for me to lose money, but to drag my parents down with me is truly a sin, sigh.
This year has been like sitting on pins and needles, opening the exchange every day to see my account shrink, explaining my work to friends and family with no confidence. Clearly exhausted every day, yet not only did I not make money, but life is also tough, and I face ridicule from relatives saying, "After studying so much, you still don't have a stable job."
I am genuinely curious, who can still make money on exchanges? Coins that have dropped 5 times can drop another 4 times, and they plummet 4-5 times as soon as they go online? In such a situation, can anyone really make money?
My feelings are exceptionally complex right now, filled with unwillingness yet also confusion and helplessness. I feel like I've tried my best, yet the results are always unsatisfactory. Those goals that once made my blood boil now resemble paper soaked in rain, blurred and unclear. I don't know where to go from here, nor if I can pick myself up again.
